DIY Rosehip Oil Face Serum Recipe

Let's talk about skin care for a quick second. If you're just getting started and are unfamiliar with skin care products, this is a good post for you! After cleansing your face, a toner is the first skin care product you'll put on. You will want to use a toner to balance the pH level of your face, which the alkaline nature of most cleansing products will have disturbed. There are a couple other benefits for using toner, but I'll reserve that for a later post.

After your toner dries you will put on a face serum. Serums are lighter and more liquid based than moisturizers and that is why you should apply it before a moisturizer. If you were to put on the moisturizer before a serum, the serum would not be able to penetrate through the layer of moisturizer and would essentially be a waste of product. Anyway, I've tried a few different store bought serums before deciding to make my own. I decided to make a rosehip oil based serum because of the oil's benefits, which include:
  • hydrates dry skin
  • evens skin tone (great for freckles and age spots)
  • reduces stretch marks, scars, and burns
  • treats wrinkles and fine lines
  • it's non greasy!

Ingredients:
  • 1 TBSP Rosehip Seed Oil
  • 1/2 TBSP Vegetable Glycerine
  • 1/2 TBSP Aloe Vera Gel
  • 1 tsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • 10 drops Tea Tree Oil
  • Dark bottle for storage (or keep your serum in a dark place, like a medicine cabinet)
