How To Make A Vision Board That Works

A vision board, also known as a dream board is a visual representation of the things you want to attract to your life.

1. Be true to your passions.
Before you make your vision board make a list of all the things you want to attract. Use images that represent what it is you want to attract. If you put a giant mansion on your dream board, but what your heart really wants is a quaint cottage in a woodsy area you are going against what you really want. Even if something seems silly, it isn't. Those are probably the things that matter most.

Don't put things that people or society tells you you should have, stick to your gut and heart, by only adding the things you truly desire.

2. What you are already grateful for.
Family, friends, accomplishments and other things you are grateful and proud of should be included.

3. Believe
Only put the things on your dream board you believe will happen or come to you. If you put a picture of a yacht, but think "I can never have that boat" you are only doing a diservice to yourself. You will most likely focus on the thing you can't have rather than the other items on the board.

4. Include You.
It wouldn't be much of a vision board without a photo of the main attraction...you! Add a picture or two to the board that represent a time where you felt happy, beautiful or inspired. Maybe a picture of your most memorable birthday as a kid or a day where you accomplished something (graduated, won an award).Whatever feeling you want to attract more of put it on there!

5. Focus on the feeling.
If you pick a picture but don't like the look of it or the feeling its gives you, don't use it! Focus on the feeling of the photo rather than what the image is specifically depicting. An image can evoke different emotions depending on the person If the image evokes a bad feeling or reminds you of a past problem don't use it.

6. Change it up.
A dream board represents a specific set of passions you have for yourself at that time. When you're passions change and your focus shifts to something else you want in life, change your vission board at that time as well.

When you look at your dream board it should evoke a feeling of happiness, inspiration and positive thinking.

Exclusive Nail Couture Drill and Cuticle Bit Set Unboxing

I was recently in the market for a nail drill to do e-manicures. After much research and shopping around I stumbled upon Exclusive Nail Couture's website. Needless to say I was hooked on their Mini Toy Drill from first glance. It has a compact size with a cute design and best of all it is a darling shade of pink! I placed an order for the drill as well as their Pink Diamond Manicure Drill Bit Set.

Watch the video to see the unboxing in action. The efile was $300 and the bit set was $49.99 (which comes with a cute pink cuticle oil that smells great!

The machine works well and the small size is convenient. I love that it is rechargeable so I am wire-free; this way I can clip the drill on my waist and do manicure or pedicures without the fear of getting tangled.

This is my first nail drill so I am unable to compare its performance to another product, however I can tell you that it is relatively quiet and the hand-piece has low vibration. I highly enjoy that the hand-piece is lightweight with a slim design so it fits into my small hands quite well.

If you are looking for a good nail drill this is a nice and cute choice!

DIY Bug Spray For Your Home

Bugs...When I see one in my home, I want it OUT! Don't get me wrong I think they're an important part of the environment (except for mosquitos, why do they exist?) and I wish no harm onto them, but get them out of my home please. Bugs, you live outside while I live inside. Anyway, I noticed some little spiders and silverfish in my home and decided to make an all natural bug spray. This recipe is pet and child friendly too (plus it smells pretty fabulous). It just involves water and some basic essential oils! This blend of essential oils will drive most critters away :)

Ingredients:

Distilled Water
Peppermint Oil
Lavender Oil
Leamon Oil or Extract

How to Make Body Mist

Of course it's always great to wear a nice outfit, BUT smelling fantastic really puts the icing on the cake! I love perfumes and I've made some (see video at the end of the post), but sometimes I like to wear body sprays too. Body sprays don't last as long as perfume and they generally have a less potent smell. Check out this EASY DIY body spray recipe you can make at home without a bunch of chemicals you can't even pronounce :)

Ingredients:
7 TBSP Distilled Water
1 TBSP Vodka or Witch Hazel
1/4 tsp Vegetable Glycerine (optional, adds moisture and a nice glow to the skin)
15-20 drops Essential Oils (See the amazing fresh scented combo I used in the video below)

Overnight Oatmeal: A Healthy and Easy Breakfast Idea

Mom always said breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I never appreciated that until I hit college. Overnight oatmeal was my go to morning fuel (along with a Venti sized coffee). It's easy, delicious, and in a jar! You can pretty much throw anything in here including but not limited to chia seeds, flavored jams, nuts, peanut butter, nutella, yogurt, chocolate chips, and the possibilities go on!

Ingredients:
1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup almond milk
1/4 cup Greek yogurt
1 tbsp chia seeds

Mix all the ingredients in a jar and shake it up! Feel free to add fruit, nuts, or cereal in the morning so they don't become soggy :) This can also be heated in microwave next morning if you don't like cold oatmeal. Enjoy!

Top 10 Essential Crafting Supplies

So lately I have been doing a lot of arts and crafts. The last few posts have been a bunch of DIY projects that mainly have to do with decor and organization. I made a pair of sunburst mirrors out of popsicle sticks, tumblr inspired canvas art, a ring dish, floral letters, a flower jar, and a necklace organizer. There are constantly some supplies we are using and I thought it would be handy to compile a list of essential crafting supplies. So here is a basic list of my essential crafting supplies:
  1. A GOOD hot glue gunDepending on whether you get a good one or a really cheap one, your hot glue gun will be either your best friend or your worst enemy. I think hot glue is the most convenient of glues because it dries quickly and provides a good quality of adhesion but it isn't permanent. I didn't realize how handy a good hot glue gun is and I use it often for many crafts.
  2. Spray paint Get at least your basic colors of such as black, white, and a clear overcoat. A good quality of spray paint will provide better coverage than a cheaper version. You can use spray paint to makeover anything from furniture to jewelry. You can spray paint basically anything to give it a new look!
  3. Painter’s tapeYou'll need this to mask off any areas you do not want to paint or spray paint. You can also create patterns, like chevron or stripes, with it. It's cheap and super satisfying to peel off a finished project.
  4. Loose glitterYou either love glitter or hate glitter. I love glitter. It's perfect for glamming up pretty much anything from shoes to a plastic toy.
  5. Mod PodgeThis product is great because it is an all-in-one glue, finisher, and sealer!
  6. Paint/sponge brushesPaint and sponge brushes can obviously be used for painting. But they can also be used to spread glue, place glitter, and correct mistakes.
  7. Glass bottles or jarsYou can save old candle jars or spaghetti source jars (or at least that's where I get them from). You can also buy Mason jars, they're pretty cheap. You can decorate them so they double as organizational items and room decor. You can also fill them up with goodies (from homemade sugar scrubs to hot cocoa ingredients) to give as gifts!
  8. E6000 glueI feel this is the holy grail of crafting glues. After this glue dries whatever you've glued together WILL NOT come apart, it's permanent. The drying time is longer than hot glue or Mod Podge but the quality of adhesion is far superior. It bonds together basically anything including wood, glass, plastic, ceramic, rubber, vinyl, and fiberglass to name a few things. A tube of this is pretty cheap and it also comes in black.
  9. A SHARP pair of scissors I think owning a pair of good sharp scissors is a basic necessity for just life in general. Who likes using dull scissors? When you're crafting the last thing I want to deal with is not being able to cut something because that pretty much kills my project and my motivation.
  10. RibbonRibbon is both cute and practical. You can use ribbon in sewing projects as well as crafting projects. I've used it to do a lot of things from neatly package gift jars to hanging decor I've made. It's cheap, lightweight, and comes in a variety of colors, materials, and patterns!

June 2015 BB Bag Beauteque Monthly Unboxing

Note: This is not a sponsored post, I paid for 100% of this box with my own money.
This is my BB bag from Beauteque Monthly for the month of May. This is the 3rd bag of my 3 month subscription, which automatically renewed. My subscription costs $24 a month but I had to pay the total 3 month fee of $72 at renewal. The shipping is included in your monthly fee and they are usually shipped out around the 16th of each month.

Items Received:
  • Black & white striped makeup bag (price not listed)- This is a cute bag and it's a good size. It's also made out of vinyl or some other material that is easily cleanable. But I think the zipper is pretty flimsy and I can see myself breaking it within a month.
  • Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Starter ($10)- This contains pink clay which his suppose to help absorb sebum and soften blackheads. Use this after cleansing your face. My boyfriend used this and was able to remove a bunch of blackheads after!
  • It's Skin Mini Bebe Mist ($11)- I'm not a big fan of body mist, I don't see the point. If my skin is dry why not just use lotion? If I want to smell good why not just use perfume? It smells like peaches though and that's nice.
  • The Face Shop Eyelash Curler ($7.60)- This comes with 1 replacement pad. It's also supposedly coated in 24k gold. I'm excited to try this out because I used the last replacement pad for my Shu Uemera eyelash curler and that company doesn't sell replacement pads. Both the Shu Uemera and this Face Shop eyelash curler use silicone based pads, not rubber like most other curlers. I feel like the silicone pads curl your lashes better.
  • Nature Republic By Flower Vivid Tint Bar ($8)- This contains SPF15 and jojoba oil. It's a bright neon pink color too! It has no scent to it, even though there's a strawberry on the packaging.
  • Nature Republic Buglarian Rose Essence ($17)- This is my favorite thing in this month's beauty bag! I love essences, which are serums, and this one smells like roses. It's a small size though but that's useful for traveling.
  • Mikatvonk Auto Eyeliner Pencil ($15)- I'm not sure why this is double sided considering both sides are exactly the same. It's also not water resistant. I did a swatch on my hand and it seems to rub off easily.
  •  May Island Donkey Milk Skin Mask Packs (2 at $3.20 Each)- Donkey's milk? I've heard of using snail goo and starfish in beauty products, but donkey's milk is a first. I really like how these packs come with a cleanser and ampoule (which is essentially a serum). They're really convenient!
I'm excited to be using the Bulgarian Rose Essence, Pig Nose Clear Black Starter, and also to try out the Donkey's Milk Skin Mask Packs. I'm not sure about the lip tint, body mist, and the eyeliner pencil and don't feel that they are worth their retail prices. Overall I'm satisfied with May's BB Bag from Beauteque Monthly.

Summer Skin Care: DIY Sunburn Relief Spray Using Aloe Vera Gel and Essential Oils

It's summer and that means it's time to go out and enjoy that warm sunshine! Break out those shorts or that perfect summer dress, but MOST IMPORTANTLY don't forget to take care of your skin. The effects of not putting sunscreen on your body and face will definitely show. The key to great looking skin is to take care of it BEFORE and AFTER sun exposure. I've decided to make an aloe vera gel based spray to use after a day at the park, beach, or tanning. This DIY soothing after sun spray is perfect to take the heat out of any burns and nourish skin that has spent time in the sun.

Ingredients:
  • 5 TBSP Aloe Vera
  • 1 TBSP Witch Hazel (you may use vinegar or black tea as a substitute)
  • 2 tsp Tamanu Oil
  • 2 tsp Argan Oil
  • 5-10 drops Lavender & Tea Tree Essential Oils

How to Remove Makeup Naturally & Without Makeup Remover!

You should really be putting in some time in taking off your makeup properly. If you spend 30 minutes putting it on, why not spend 30 minutes to take it off? Leftover makeup on your face can cause breakouts and leave colorful smudges on your pillow cases! You can buy makeup remover or you can just use sweet almond oil. I LOVE using sweet almond oil because it's cheap and EXTREMELY effective. I know some people use mineral oil but I don't because it's harmful to get in your eyes and it's been known to cause breakouts because of how it's processed. Sweet almond oil is great to use on your face because of it's many nutrients and benefits. These include it being:
  • moisturizing yet not greasy
  • soothing and an anti-inflammatory
  • restores the natural pH levels of your skin giving you a nice natural glow
  • reduces wrinkles and dark circles
  • reverses damage caused by sun exposure
So on top of all the benefits I just mentioned, you can use this to remove your makeup. All you need is a quarter sized amount of sweet almond oil (I recommend getting pure almond oil, not a blend), some q-tips (for eye makeup), and one makeup remover wipe (I use Burt's Bees).

A 2 Ingredient DIY Face Mask for Younger Looking Skin!

Face masks are an essential part of my skincare routine. I'm pretty partial to sheet masks, mainly due to the convenience, but sometimes I LOVE a good clay mask. Rathe than buy ones from the store, I like to make my own. Making your own face masks is great because YOU can control what you put on your skin. Get to know what kind of skin type you have and from there you can really customize a good face mask. Plus, who knows what's really in store-bought masks (let's not even mention how costly they can be!).

I decided to make a magnetic face mask using just 2 ingredients. One batch of this breaks down to $1! I've seen store versions of this mask for up to $200 (INSANE!). This Australian Midnight Black Clay mask is blended with Rosehip Seed Oil to detoxify your skin by drawing out impurities. How does it draw it out? By using a magnet to LITERALLY pull off the clay from you face (check out the video below for a demo). It's pretty awesome. This mask is also great for moisturizing dry skin and will help you get younger looking skin! Use this once a week for 15-20 minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 TBSP Australian Midnight Black Clay (I got mine here)
  • 1 tsp Rosehip Seed Oil

After taking care of the skin on your face with all the cleansers and creams, applying makeup and doing your hair you're tired! Caring for your feet tends to get overlooked. DIY Blackhead Scrub: How to Get Rid of Blackheads and Blackhead Removal At Home

Blackheads are the result of dead skin and sebum depositing into open pores in your skin. Because the dirt and oils build up in open pores they're exposed to oxygen and become oxidized, resulting in the black colored acne known as blackheads. They're are blackhead extractor tools you can buy at your pharmacy, but daily cleansing and routine skin care should also help prevent blackheads.

I decided to try a  DIY blackhead treatment with baking soda. Baking soda not only has great uses in the kitchen but also in beauty and skincare. Benefits of baking soda for your skin include:
  • Balancing the pH level of your skin resulting in less oil production
  • Clearing up clogged pores
  • A soft exfoliator that cleanses your face without the use of harsh chemicals

The recipe calls for just 3 simple ingredients you probably already have at home. The salt will help to exfoliate your skin and the honey will moisturize it. Add a few drops of tea tree oil for its anti-bacterial properties and soothing effect!

Make and use this treatment 2-3 times a week and you should see less blackheads! First wash your face with a cleanser, Then gently massage the mixture onto problem areas in circular motions and let it sit for about 5-7 minutes. Rinse it off with a wash cloth and warm water then apply your toner and moisturizer!
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • a few drops of tea tree oil essential oil (optional)

DIY Face Toner and Facial Mist Using Natural Green Tea and Tea Tree Essential Oil

A toner is an ESSENTIAL step of your skincare routine. If you're not using a toner now you should definitely start using one! A toner is used right after you've washed and dried your face. After your toner you starts using your serums and moisturizers. Toners are great because:
  1. Using it on a cotton pad will remove any residual makeup you missed while washing your face.
  2. Toners will shrink the appearance of pores.
  3. Using it after cleaning will balance the pH levels of your face.
  4. It moisturizes and refreshes your skin.
  5. It can prevent ingrown hairs and acne by removing dead skin cells and oily buildup.

Of course you can buy toners but you can also make your own at home with out simple 2 ingredient recipe! This recipe calls for organic jasmine green tea and tea tree essential oil. Tea tree oil is great to add to the toner because of its soothes and heals damaged skin as well as helps treat eczema and acne! Green tea is packed with antioxidents and nutrients great for your skin! Plus the caffeine in the tea will help firm your skin.

DIY Skin Firming, Brightening and Cellulite Coffee Scrub: 3 EASY Ingredients!

Face scrubs are best used 2-3 times a week to keep your skin fresh, smooth, and healthy. A scrub helps to exfoliate the dead skin, dirt, and oils off of your face. Apply the scrub and rub it into your skin in small circular motions for 2-3 minutes. I usually use a face scrub right after using my favorite cleanser. Then I follow with a serum and a few other products. For a step by step description of my skincare routine watch the video below!

I decided to make my own face scrub using what I already have at home! I drink coffee ever morning and I've read about and seen the rising popularity of caffeine in beauty products. Caffeine helps to firm your skin and also reduce cellulite. The added vitamin C from the orange essential oil or orange/lemon juice will help to brighten your skin too! You can use this scrub for your face and also your cellulite areas if you decide to. Don't forget to moisturize after washing your face!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp ground coffee (wet or dry, it doesn't matter)
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (or carrier oil of your choice)
  • Sweet Orange Essential Oil (or juice from a REAL lemon or orange)
  • Small container with a lid to store your scrub (I used an old glass jar)
