I prefer using mineral makeup over pressed powders because they are chemical free and are natural. Usually mineral makeup comes at a higher price than their pressed powder counterparts. After researching what goes into mineral makeup, I've decided to make my own mineral makeup at home with just a few products. I made a mineral base and added different pigments to create my personal blush and highlighter!
Surprisingly it's extremely affordable to make your own mineral makeup! It's also really neat to be able to formulate your own makeup to make it a pigmented as you want it to be. Here are the websites I buy my mineral makeup ingredients from:

DIY Mineral Makeup Base
3 tsp Titanium Dioxide - Oil Dispersible
2 tsp Zinc Oxide
2 tsp Kaolin Clay
2 tsp Sericite Mica
Oxides, aquamarines, Micas may be added for color. A little bit goes a long way.
- Combine ingredients for base and colorants in a clean dry jar.
- Close the jar and shake your makeup. You will start to see it change color.
- Let the contents settle before opening.
For the highlighter I added 1/8 tsp silver mica and 1/16 tsp reddish brown oxide to 4 1/2 tsp of my base.
