DIY Blackhead Scrub: How to Get Rid of Blackheads and Blackhead Removal At Home

Blackheads are the result of dead skin and sebum depositing into open pores in your skin. Because the dirt and oils build up in open pores they're exposed to oxygen and become oxidized, resulting in the black colored acne known as blackheads. They're are blackhead extractor tools you can buy at your pharmacy, but daily cleansing and routine skin care should also help prevent blackheads.

I decided to try a  DIY blackhead treatment with baking soda. Baking soda not only has great uses in the kitchen but also in beauty and skincare. Benefits of baking soda for your skin include:
  • Balancing the pH level of your skin resulting in less oil production
  • Clearing up clogged pores
  • A soft exfoliator that cleanses your face without the use of harsh chemicals

The recipe calls for just 3 simple ingredients you probably already have at home. The salt will help to exfoliate your skin and the honey will moisturize it. Add a few drops of tea tree oil for its anti-bacterial properties and soothing effect!

Make and use this treatment 2-3 times a week and you should see less blackheads! First wash your face with a cleanser, Then gently massage the mixture onto problem areas in circular motions and let it sit for about 5-7 minutes. Rinse it off with a wash cloth and warm water then apply your toner and moisturizer!
Ingredients
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • a few drops of tea tree oil essential oil (optional)
